RELEASE: air london Miami Showcase
After a sell out WMC event in 2010 air london will return to the famed Electric Pickle for their third Miami showcase on March 22, 2011. The event will feature a selection of artists from the trans-Atlantic air london European and North American roster, with a live performance by Glimpse and DJ sets from Kate Simko, DVS1, Matt Tolfrey + Maher Daniel (B2B), M A N I K, Robert Dietz, Adam Shelton, Crazy Larry and more.
air london has had a remarkable twelve months, with showcases in New York City, fabric London and at the BPM Festival in Playa Del Carmen, as well as releasing six EPs on the air london label.. Their artist roster continues to grow, attracting burgeoning young talent and established names, from across America and Europe. In Miami air London will show off the vibrant, diverse and dedicated crew that makes it one of the most exciting collectives in dance music today.
2010 was a monumental year for Glimpse. His well-received debut artist album, ‘Runner,’ on Crosstown Rebels was lauded by international press, and was followed by a release on Cocoon, boosting an already impressive resume which includes Planet E, Cadenza and Buzzin’ Fly. Glimpse picked a hell of a stage to showcase his 909 live performance, the closing party of Space Ibiza, drawing world-wide attention to the unique analog style which he favors.
Kate Simko will be the head talent representing air london’s North American crew. Her DJ set will no doubt combine her unique and tantalizing take on Chicago House and Detroit Techno, a style she’s exhibited at venues as diverse as Fabric, MUTEK and DEMF. Expect to hear some tracks from her forthcoming album, ‘Lights Out,’ which will be released on Hello?Repeat in early April. The classically trained pianist’s original productions have garnered praise from the likes of URB, XLR8R, de:Bug and The Wire, and her new album is sure to draw more critical acclaim.
M A N I K has been on everyone’s radar lately, especially since Josh Wink picked him up for two EPs on his lauded Ovum label, and signed his debut artist album for release in March. A man with an eye for the details and a passion for his craft, expect him to take full advantage of the Miami stage, and prove himself as one of the best up and comers on the market.
DVS1 is one of America’s true musical connoisseurs, with a record collection 10,000 deep you know the man knows a thing or two about a groove. Championed by Berghain’s Ben Klock, his releases have graced Klock’s Klockworks label as well as Derrick May’s iconic Transmat. Further music is slated for release on Luke Slater’s Mote Evolver label, Perc Trax, Synewave and Klockworks in the coming months. Having played venues like Fabric and Berghain, DVS1 will hit Miami with an apt house music set at Electric Pickle.
Expect to be seeing more of Crazy Larry in 2011. He has a new release, ‘Blind Licking,’ due on Hallucination this spring, and he will be launching his eagerly anticipated Time to Get iLL label with his release ‘Glacier’ in March!

RELEASE: air london Showcase @ BPM Festival
air london Showcase at BPM Festival with Nick Curly & Simon Baker
The beautiful, idyllic city of Playa Del Carmen, Mexico will welcome the BPM Festival for the 4th consecutive year this December 31st to January 9th, 2011, and air London will be hosting a nighttime showcase on January 5th featuring Cecille label boss Nick Curly and British tech-house specialist Simon Baker.
The BPM Festival was originally established under the framework of a networking conference, with DJs, artists, and other industry heads coming together in picturesque Southeastern Mexico. Now, after three years of building credibility, the festival has evolved into a melting pot of international artists, industry folk, dance music aficionados, and New Year’s party enthusiasts. Each entity of the festival now converges to form 10 days of conviviality with parties and showcases occurring continuously throughout the day and nighttime.
As an event that was conceived around the idea of a festival for DJs put on by DJs, the talent curation has always been second to none. In the past 3 years, Playa Del Carmen and the BPM Festival have been home to performances by the world’s best, including Steve Lawler, Dubfire, Steve Angello, Guy Gerber, and more. BPM has outdone itself once again this year, featuring an all-star lineup of talent including Richie Hawtin, Steve Angello, Laidback Luke and Loco Dice. Only three labels were invited to host showcases this year--Kompakt, Crosstown Rebels and air london.
As an agency, air london represents a wide range of international artists and DJs, and their ever-growing roster boasts some of the most exciting electronic acts from around the world. Names include showcase headliners Nick Curly and Simon Baker, as well as Glimpse, Geddes, and Alex Celler to name a few. Additionally, the agency is the rep for multiple international imprints including 2020 Vision, Cecille, and 8 Bit. In 2010, air london debuted its own label, which to date has released tracks from Burnski, Simon Baker, Nick Curly, and more.
The past year has been excitingly busy for air london’s Nick Curly. His consistent production and top DJ technique earned him a lauded residency at the legendary nightclub, Space Ibiza, last summer. He was also invited to give the world 2 hours of music on Pete Tong’s world famous Essential Mix on BBC’s Radio 1 in July. Nick’s experience mastering the Mannheim house sound has made him one of the most innovative and sought after DJs in the circuit today.
Simon Baker has inarguably solidified his position as one of the United Kingdom’s best tech-house producers to date. With over 18 years of DJ experience and releases on multiple labels including VIVa, Get Physical, and Cocoon, it is no wonder that Simon is in demand at clubs and festivals all over the world. His anticipated debut artist album is also set for release on 2020 Vision in the New Year.
Expect that the performances of these two high-caliber artists at this BPM Festival in paradise will foreshadow the bright 2011 that air London has ahead of it.
