RELEASE: The Dog & Pony Show 1 Year Anniversary

The Dog & Pony Show Turns One!

Alexander Robotnick, Le Loup, Thugfucker, Nightplane & Harry, and More Join ‘Lost In Music’ Birthday Hi-Jinks

Hotel On Rivington (NYC) Feb. 27th

Who doesn’t love a birthday bash? Especially one celebrating one of New York City’s most playful and mischievous parties. The Dog & Pony Show turns one, Sunday Feb 27th at the elegant Hotel On Rivington in NYC. In this episode, titled ‘Lost In Music’, the talent roster for the party is typically eclectic, straddling genres and decades with Dog & Pony’s typical aplomb. Italo-Disco pioneer and analog legend Alexander Robotnick headlines the night with support from Wolf + Lamb’s Le Loup, the dark and debauched Thugfucker, the genre-bashing duo of Nightplane & Harry, and more.

Few parties can claim to have had as much of an impact on New York nightlife in their first twelve months as The Dog & Pony Show. The Dog + Pony duo, Dave Kers and Paul Raffaele, started out with a modest and admirable intention: throwing weekend parties for friends. But once this snowball got rolling it was hard to stop. The winning combination of cutting edge bookings, unique venues and cheeky original art and production left people wanting more. Whether it be a 14 hour Halloween party at the Hotel On Rivington, late-night antics in Greenwich Village’s Love, or Backroom action in Brooklyn, what has embodied Dog & Pony is a willingness to take a risk, with a vibe and booking policy that unites New Yorkers of all stripes, be they hipsters, punks, party animals or pranksters.

The lineup for this event is a true testament to the individuality that is The Dog & Pony Show. For over three decades, the legendary Alexander Robotnick has perfected his mastery of dance music, earning him status as one of the forefathers of the analog sound. From producing his 1982 cult dance music track, ‘Problèmes d'amour’, to creating his own label, Hot Elephant Music, in 2000, Alexander Robotnick has always proved his musical relevance, regardless of flavor of the moment trends. For Dog + Pony he’ll showcase a special live set, complete with keyboards, vocals and live edits. Supporting this iconic musician will be a barrage of talent including the funky representative from Wolf + Lamb, Le Loup, as well as some terrific house & techno from NYC’s finest: Thugfucker, Night Plane & Harry, Paul Raffaele, and MSG.

The February birthday will mark the launch of the new Dog & Pony Show website, sure to establish itself as an outstanding source of one-of-a-kind content, featuring new music, video interviews, as well as the Dog & Pony Radio Show; a weekly artist podcast that will be downloadable from the website. Guest artists confirmed for the opening podcasts include DJ Spun, In Flagranti, Jacques Renault, Vincenzo, Quarion, the label-head of Mood Music: Sasse, among many others.

The Dog & Pony Show’s anniversary, like the highly successful day-long Halloween event and last month's Matthew Dear vs. Matt Tolfrey debauchery, will be held at the Hotel On Rivington. A dancefloor under a glass dome, surrounded by floral textured walls and elaborate chandeliers provide a devious yet exciting undertone for the anniversary celebration. Custom sound and lighting manned by the pros of Oxygen Lightworks are sure to make this yet another standout event.

The Dog & Pony Show looks set to continue this fine form in 2011, with multiple events already in the works featuring the likes of Simon Baker + Glimpse, Catz N’ Dogz, a 15 years of Mood Music showcase, and more. Stay tuned to The Dog & Pony Show website for details.
